Hand-woven in the north-east corner of Turkey, Kars rugs were originated by a Turkish tribe called the Karzaks.

Most Kars rugs are woven with a natural brown wool foundation (seen clearly in the fringe), although some of the younger vintage pieces have alternatively been woven with a cotton foundation.

Their designs typically include one or more medallions throughout the field of the rug. The knots tend to be woven looser which result in a softer, floppier texture of rug.

We recommend these pieces for medium to high traffic areas.
